The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) officials have decided to launch special drives across the Hyderabad city and crack the on vehicles that have failed to pay their tax dues.

RTA officials have found that more than 5000 transport vehicles have not paid their tax dues across all RTA offices in all zones of the city. The dues for some vehicles are higher of Rs.1 lakh. The authorities sent reminders to them from time to time and stopped vehicles on the roads.

As per RTA sources, taxes and dues on defaulters range from Rs.3000 to Rs.1 lakh. These taxes are levied on all vehicles with commercial licence and contract carriage licences like autos, buses and truck. Motor Vehicle Inspectors (MVIs) are taking drives at various check posts. The officials are expected to recover the taxes and dues at the earliest as possible.

According to Telangana today, the price of the new vehicle in Telangana is determined after adding a lifetime road tax on the showroom price. There are many factors to determining the road tax a vehicle owner has to pay.

The factors to determining the road tax are

  • Age of the vehicle,
