Mumbai: Tech CEO Rajalakshmi Vijay dies after being hit by car

Rajalakshmi Vijay, a 58 year old, Tech CEO and an avid jogger, dies after being hit by speeding car while jogging. A SUV car hit her when she was jogging near the Worli Sea Face. Rajalakshmi, also called Raji by her friends, had recently completed the Tata Mumbai Marathon.

The driver named Sumer Merchant, was driving his car at the speed of 120 km/hour.  First he hit the victim and then rammed into a divider, according to the  Worli Police.

According to the reports, the accused, Sumer Merchant (23), was driving a white Tata Nexon. He has been arrested and will be produced in the court on Monday. The police are investigating whether the driver was drunk or not.

An official told Times of India, We will strictly go by the eyewitnesses as well as the CCTV footages. The accused blood samples have been collected and further investigations are underway.
