On Wednesday, Tollywood actor Vijay Devarakonda appeared before ED in connection with Foreign Exchange Management act (FEMA). The ED is investigating into alleged payments and the source of funds for a recent film ‘Liger’.
There has been a lot of suspicion about the Liger movie investors in reference to the finances over the past few months.
According to the media reports, the Telangana leader Bakka Judson filed a complaint against the team on sources of funding for the movie ‘Liger’. The ED also questioned Liger movie director Puri Jagannath and its producer Charmy Kaur.
Puri Jagannadh and Charmy Kaur, the producer and director of the movie were questioned previously on November 18. They were questioned over violation of Foreign Exchange Money Act (FEMA) and their investments on the movie.
The investigating agency believes that the cash were moved to the filmmaker’s accounts by multiple firms. They asked the team to provide the information on persons who sent the fund and how the money was distributed.
Liger, a multilingual sports action drama made with a budget of Rs.125 crores starring Vijay Devarakonda and Ananya Panday in a lead role. American former professional boxer, Mike Tyson also played a cameo role in this film
Despite of its massive promotions, cast and budget, the film failed miserably at box office. The movie struggles hard to collect half of its investment from its entire theatrical run at box-office India.
