As part of the ‘Swatantra Bhartha Vajrotsavalu’, the Telangana government has showcased the real ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat‘. The Telangana government is distributing 1.2 crore flags.
It is important to note that the state government is giving it free of cost. Whereas the central government is selling the national flag for Rs.20/-.
The National flags would be hoisted on every house in Telangana on Independence Day.
According to Telangana Today, the Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar formally launched the flag distribution programmer at a shopping mall in the city on Tuesday. Speaking in the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Secretary said, that the State Government is distributing ‘Made in Telangana flags’.
On the contrary, the Central Government appealed to the people to paste paper flags at houses, citing dearth of the tricolors.
Handlooms Minister KT Rama Rao slammed the Central Government for its failure to produce national flags in the country for the 75th Independence Day celebrations.
He said “despite claiming to promote ‘Make in India’, the Centre could not plan in advance to produce national flags for a milestone event.”
Furthermore, he said that the State Government planned to conduct the Swathantra Bharatha Vajrotsavalu. It placed the orders for 1.20 crore flags well-in-advance. The National flag was made by weavers in the Handlooms department in Sircilla using 90 lakh meters fabric.
The order was for Rs.27 crores. Moreover, the farsighted order has helped the timely distribution of national flags to households. In addition to this, the weavers also earned money this season apart from the Bathukamma saree orders.
