Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury apologises to the President of India Droupadi Murmu. He wrote, “I am writing to express my regret for having mistakenly used an incorrect word to describe the position you hold. I assure you that it was a slip of the tongue. I apologize and request you to accept the same,”

Earlier, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had apologized in a media interview this week for the ‘Rashtrapatni’ remark. Moreover, BJP had demanded an apology from Congress chief Sonia Gandhi after her party leader Adhir Ranjan made the comment.

While talking to the reporters during his party’s protests over a host of issues, the leader of the Congress remarked as Rashtrapatni.

Congress MP, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, apologises to the President of India. Earlier, he claimed that it was just a slip of the tongue as Hindi is not his mother tongue. However, BJP insisted that the comment was not a slip of the tongue.

However, on Friday, the Congress leader wrote to the speaker of the Lok Sabha to clarify his claim. Furthermore, he alleged that Union Minister Ms Irani was yelling the name of President Droupadi Murmu with disrespect. She was not using any prefix before the President’s name- madame or Smt. Moreover, the manner with which she addressed the House actually degraded the highest office of the country and the House.
