On Tuesday, Meta CEO Mark and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadalla introduced Llama 2, the next-generation Artificial Intelligence system. It is an open-source large language model which can be used for research and commercial use.

Users can download these models directly, or you can get them through Azure, along with Microsoft’s safety and content features. They can also run an optimized version locally on Windows.

The AI system was developed jointly by Meta and Microsoft. It represents significant progress in large language models and will be offered to researchers and businesses as a foundation for their work.

Mark shared a Facebook post stating that Liama 2 was pre-trained on 40% more data than Llama 1.

Furthermore, “For the fine-tuned models, we collected more than 1 million human annotations and applied supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning with human feedback (RLHF) with leading results on safety and quality.” Mark stated.

Also, he added that Open source drives innovation because it enables many more developers to build with new technology. It additionally improves safety and security since more people can scrutinize software to identify and fix potential issues.
