Vikas Dubey, the Notorious gangster got killed in an alleged encounter by Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on Friday morning.
He was arrested from the Mahakal temple in Ujjain by the MP Police on Thursday morning after six days of the ambush of eight policemen in Kanpur.
It is said that after a vehicle in UP STF’s convoy overturned, Dubey allegedly took advantage of the situation and made an attempt to escape from police custody.
Dubey and 4 cops injured when Police van overturns
The UP STF took his custody and left for Kanpur from Ujjain at around 8:00 pm on Thursday. As the convoy reached Barra police circle in Kanpur on Friday morning, the car in which the gangster was seated overturned after skidding on the road due to heavy rains, leaving Dubey and four police personnel injured.
Dubey’s alleged attempt to escape
According to the police, Dubey allegedly snatched a pistol from an STF personnel and made an attempt to flee after being taken out from the overturned vehicle. Police surrounded him and asked him to surrender. However, he refused to listen and allegedly opened fire at the police.
Retaliatory firing by police
The police opened fire at Dubey retaliating his attack. Reportedly, he was shot in the chest. He got critically injured and was rushed to Kanpur’s LLR hospital where he was declared dead
The ADG Kanpur range confirmed that Dubey “sustained injuries” but did not confirm to what extent. He said that the extent of injuries sustained by Dubey would come in the post-mortem report.
We must remember that this notorious criminal and his associates killed eight policemen during a failed operation against him at his residence in Kanpur’s Bikru village under the jurisdiction of Chaubepur Police Station last week. He fled the scene with his accomplices, leaving behind a trail of blood, rage and horror.
Around four dozen teams of UP STF and police were on the lookout for Dubey, who was finally arrested in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain on Thursday morning.
