Raju, a COVID-19 survivor, who was an eyewitness to the woes of his fellow patients in the ward he was admitted in, could understand their struggle to live. He understood the plight of the people well, who died of Covid-19, particularly those who died due to the lack of plasma donors. Raju out of empathy decided to donates plasma and turn saviour for many.
Majority of Covid-19 survivors may not respond to the calls for plasma donations, but Ragam Raju, a school van driver in Hyderabad, has removed apprehensions from the minds of people.
Raju, is a native of Malkepalli village in Kasipet mandal of Mancherial. He had contracted the virus on June 26 and was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad. He recovered on July 8 and underwent 14 days of home quarantine after discharge.
Raju decided to donate plasma and turn savior for many as he was an eyewitness to the plight of patients who died of Covid-19, particularly due to the lack of plasma donors. He has donated plasma four times, recently for a farmer from Sangareddy district who was battling for his life.
He also donated plasma for a Covid patient from Siddipet district on August 1 and another from Karimnagar on August 14. He also took part in the plasma donation camp held by Cyberabad Commissioner VK Sajjanar in the last week of July.
Raju felt honored for donating plasma and said that he could donate plasma to patients within a short time as the percentage of plasma in his bloodstream is comparatively high. He said that the thought that he could save the lives of patients by donating it whenever required and also said that serving the needy gives him utmost pleasure. He is always ready to extend support to the needy.
