On Monday, around 190 people from 35 Muslim families reportedly converted back to Hinduism in Dewas district, Madhya Pradesh.

In the presence of Hindu saints, the ritual included a holy bath in the Narmada River, mundan (head shaving), and hawan, followed by the donning of yagyopaveet.

A video released by News Arena India is going viral all over the internet. In the video, it is shown that a group of people (including men, women and children) are taking a holy bath in the Narmada River.

According to news reports, these families had converted to Islam four generations before, but they still worshipped Chamunda Mata as their kuladevi (family deity). Their wedding rituals were similarly Hindu in nature.

The rituals took place at the Sant Samaj in Nemawar, which is located at the further end of Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas district.
