Celebrity philanthropists engage themselves in the works of charity out of their huge profits and bank balances, but a real philanthropist is a person who does the works of charity by sacrificing from whatever he has. A 84 year old ‘Chacha” who lives in Hyderabad has ferried the sick and ailing for free in his auto rickshaw. Mohammed Haneef Saheb, who is lovingly called Haneef Chacha has ferried almost 3000 patients from hospitals in the last three years.
Every day after dropping students at schools, he parks his auto outside the hospitals and looks for patients in need. When asked about his act of kindness he very humbly says that he is not doing this for the poor or rich, he is doing this for Humanity. He says that he treat all patients equally and doesn’t want their money, instead wants their blessings.
Chacha’s starts his daily routine with picking Nasr School Kids from Gachibowli and dropping them at Sanath Nagar. Later he picks up college students and drops them at their destinations. In his free time, that is in between his dropping students in schools and colleges and taking them back, he roams around the hospitals to offer free service to the patients.
He doesn’t like to have any kind of boards on his auto because he feels that it would look as if he was hungry of unnecessary publicity. His work of kindness is spread through the word of mouth alone as he just tells the people if they require my free service.
He politely refuses to take the money when some patients and attendants offer him money. When asked about why does he do this work of charity he says that he is old now and has worked hard for his kids who are graduates now. Since he feels that he has done so much for the family now he wants to do something for the society. He says that he started running a free auto-ambulance service for the past three years.
Chacha’ has a rare honor of traveling to the holy city of Mecca on a bicycle in 2006. He had approached many MLAs and MPs and even met Sonia Gandhi but the permission was denied. Later the former president APJ Abdul Kalam came to his rescue and intervened and was granted permission by the then Home Minister Rajnath Singh that’s how he could receive the rare honor. He recollects that it took him almost nine months to complete the journey. He traveled through Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, before arriving in Saudi Arabia. People who appreciated his zeal offered him the shelter and food.
This 84-year-old, Chacha from hyderabad wants to repeat the same feat as 2006 in 2021. May his wish be fulfilled.
