The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Wednesday officially agreed the second rapid antigen kit to treat the corona virus. It has been developed by Mylab Discovery Solutions which is a Biotechnology company that develops and sells molecular diagnostic detection kits, to enable labs to obtain trustworthy, timely, and actionable answers, and is the first test kit made in India, which has been accepted.
The name of this test kit is ‘Pathocache covid-19 Antigen Rapid Testing Kit’. It is a made in India kit and will be available in the market. The price of the kit is Rs. 450/-.
Managing Director of ‘MyLab Discovery Solutions’ Hasmukh Rawal said that the team of MyLab is performing everything possible to fight and eradicate. Lowering the rate of RT-PCR test kit which get ICMR approval for use in India now we don’t have to depend on foreign kits.
He also informed that after getting conformation for antigen testing kit, they will be try to cover the entire spectrum of covid-19. They tried out every possible way to fight with this situation as soon as possible.
Antigen-based testing is being used to strengthen the country’s overall testing capacity and treat patients, along with RRT-PCR. Rapid antigen test several benefit than RT-PCR. Rapid antigen test takes less time only 30 minutes and also laboratory is not required. On other hand RRT-PCR testing takes 5hours and also required laboratory.
Jacob John, former head of the department of virology at Christian Medical College, Vellore, said there is only one way to prevent the rate of infection. People those are susceptible should be tested as fast as possible and isolate them so that they cannot further spread it.
Earlier, ICMR had approved an antigen test kit prepared by SD Biosensor, a South Korean company. A branch of this company is located in Manesar, Haryana.
