Delhi recorded 1,877 fresh coronavirus cases on Thursday, the highest single-day spike, taking the Covid-19 tally in the city to over 34,000-mark.

Coronavirus cases in India have climbed to 2.97 lakh as the country reported its highest-ever single-day tally of 10,956 new infections in 24 hours on Friday.

Meanwhile, senior leaders of the three BJP-led municipal corporations have claimed that over 2,000 people have succumbed to coronavirus in the national capital, while the official tally stood at 1,085.

The Delhi government, reacting to the claim said, the Covid-19 death audit committee is “working impartially”. In a long-awaited step in the global coronavirus vaccine race, the first experimental Covid-19 vaccine in the US is on track to be tested on 30,000 volunteers in July.

Globally, the coronavirus confirmed cases have mounted to 7,500,777.
