The new JNU Vice Chancellor, Santishree Dhullipadi Pandit, tried to shut down all the criticism on her by saying that she is “non partisan” .
Meanwhile , talking to the NDTV, Santishree Pandit said “I am not on Twitter, I don’t have a Twitter handle,”
“Nonsense is being spread. I don’t know who started this Twitter,”
Soon after she was appointed as the Vice- chancellor of JNU, screenshots of controversial tweets from the twitter account @SantishreeD went viral.
In her tweets she described protesting farmers as “parasites” and “dalals”(middlemen). She even supported posts trolling journalists and politicians. Many hate posts from the above said unverified account were shared by different twitter users. Surprisingly, the above said Twitter account is deleted now.
“There is no question of denying. I never had a Twitter handle. These are planned narratives. How can tweets come out as soon as I was appointed? It was pre-planned,” Ms Pandit said, adding that she was “shocked” to see them.
The Twitter account was deactivated yesterday.
“I don’t know who it was and who deactivated. I don’t even know what those tweets are,” she said.
Calling the controversy “unfortunate”, she said: “Don’t attack me like this.”
Ms Pandit denied all charges against her and reminded that she is a thorough academic, who is being welcomed taking into account the negatives rather than the positives in her.
However, her first press statement went viral and people were amazed to see the grammatical mistakes in her statement.
